Home Building Process Custom Design Homes
The following is a typical process that we follow when building a new
custom design home for one of our customers. If we had the privilege of
working with you, here's an idea of what you could expect. (Please keep
in mind that some of these details can vary from one project to another.)
STEP 1 Initial Meeting
We'll meet with you to review your home location options, design plan
options for your custom design home, and your unique needs and desires.
STEP 2 Customize Design Plans
We'll work with you to modify and refine the design plans to be exactly
what you are envisioning.
STEP 3 Formulate Budget
Based on your unique home building project, we'll pull together a budget
and contact Chemung
Canal Trust Company and Elmira
Savings Bank about financing options.
STEP 4 Construction Agreement
We'll get together once again to review your final design plans, to provide
you with a construction agreement and to create a project schedule.
STEP 5 Construction Begins
This includes: laying the foundation; framing the house; applying exterior
finishes; installing mechanicals such as plumbing, electricity, heating,
ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); adding insulation and air sealing;
applying interior finishes; and landscaping.
You, the customer, will be making various selections throughout the construction
process, such as kitchen fixtures and appliances, plumbing fixtures, floor
coverings, paint colors, etc.
STEP 6 Final Walk-Through
After your home has been completed (typically a 4-5 month building
schedule, based on complexity), we'll take you for a final walk-through
to make sure that everything has been completed to your liking. If any
changes need to be made, we will take care of them at this time.
STEP 7 The Keys Are Yours!
Our relationship does not end when we hand the keys over to you. Because
we subscribe to NYS Builders
Warranty, you can rest assured that our quality guarantee will continue
after your home has been completed. Know that we are just a phone call
away if you ever have any concerns about your new home.
